Chairman of the Board
Mr. Peterson is the CEO, Chairman and Founder of Columbia Ventures Corporation, which owns 50% of One Communications. One Communications was formed from the combination of CTC Communications, Choice One Communications and Conversent Communications. Prior to the combination, Columbia Ventures had been the sole shareholder of CTC Communications and Mr. Peterson was its Chairman of the Board. Columbia Ventures acquired CTC Communications in December 2003. Columbia Ventures also owns Hibernia Atlantic, a transatlantic submarine fiber optic cable system linking North America to Europe through Ireland and the United Kingdom; Magnet Networks, a "triple play" CLEC in major markets in Ireland; Columbia Fiber Solutions, a dark fiber and lit services provider in Washington state; PocketiNet, a fixed wireless ISP; and Globalstar Australia, as well as a number of positions in other industries. Mr. Peterson serves on the Board of Directors for Cogent Communications Group, Inc., American Capital Strategies, Inc. and the Washington Policy Center. He graduated from Willamette University's College of Law in 1980, and he holds an AB in Government from The College of William and Mary.
